What's included
How We Wire a Hot Tub
Most hot tubs need a 240-volt circuit and a GFCI-protected disconnect. We read your tub's manual and size it to match.
Dedicated circuit
A 240-volt circuit from your panel sized to your tub's requirements.
GFCI disconnect
A weatherproof GFCI disconnect placed where code requires.
Safe routing
Wiring run in conduit and kept at the distances code requires.
Panel check
If your panel is full, we'll show you your options.
Before your tub arrives
Have These Ready
- ✓Your hot tub's model and the manual's electrical requirements
- ✓Where the tub will sit and how far that is from your panel
- ✓Whether the pad or deck is finished
- ✓Whether your panel has space for a new 2-pole breaker
Good to know
- A load calculation is included for any single load of 30 amps or more.
- GFCI devices that trip are doing their job. Moisture or a failing heater or pump is the usual cause.
- Plug-and-play 120-volt tubs may not need a new circuit. Check the manual.
- We pull the permit where one is required.

Questions
Hot Tub Wiring FAQ
How far from the tub does the disconnect go?
Code sets a minimum and maximum distance, and the disconnect must be within sight of the tub. We place it to code.
Can I use my existing outdoor outlet?
Usually not for a 240-volt tub. Most need a dedicated circuit.
Do you wire pools too?
Call us about pool equipment circuits and we'll let you know what we can do.
